Okay so here is another update about the studio progress and some art that I have done while I continue to wait for my studio to open… As it stands right now, the studio is only a few weeks away from opening! The construction guys are prepping for paint, installing tile, and grinding down the concrete so we can pour the epoxy! Once that’s complete and the floor is properly set, we can start moving in furniture! Soon you can come in and pester me in person! Hooray!
Here’s some artwork I have been doing over the past few weeks…
This is a little 5×7 watercolor I did for my buddy Eno’s birthday party… Just a little quickie but I am pretty stoked on how it came out… Eno is a great artist as well! You can see his website HERE.
This is an 8×10 watercolor I did for my friend Chico’s art show at the SixEleven Gallery out in Ocean City Maryland… There isn’t really any theme for the show, just that it fits into the 8×10 size requirement and that you don’t ask too much for the piece so that the art can actually sell and the money goes to a good cause. This time the money went to keeping a local art gallery alive which from what I hear was pretty successful!
This is an 11×14 watercolor titled “der gevatter tod” I did for the Wolves, Witches, and Clever Children art show held at Mercury Tattoo in Doylestown, PA. Each piece was to represent one of the original Grimm Fairy Tales. Mine, “der gevatter tod” which translates to Godfather Death, is about a man who seeks Death to be the godfather of his son. The story is pretty awesome and you should definitely read it to fully understand the piece of art. This is an un-cropped picture so the color legend and other random stuff you see around the black frame is not in the painting… just stuff I do to load the brush or when I get bored or frustrated. This one was a little tricky as well because I did all the lines and everything with a brush… no pens or pencils here! And there is no solid black anywhere on the piece except for the black border around it. the rest is color or greywash… pretty fun! They should have pictures set up at the Mercury website… Check out Scott Bramble and his crew HERE.
This is a close-up of a graphic I did for my assistant Rachael’s RSVP cards for her wedding… Came out really sweet! I posted this on instagram and it got like 700 something likes! That’s pretty awesome compared to all the other stuff I’ve posted! If you’re on instagram, look me up! @lefthandblack
Here’s a little sketcy-poo I did not too long ago… Just a pencil sketch in one of my sketchbooks, but a fun one none the less! More people should ask me to do tattoos like this… *ahem…
Here’s a little pen sketch I did when my old lady and I were staying at the Disneyland Hotel a few months back… I was having some coffee and waiting for my room service when I drew this up… I wonder why they don’t make shirts like this? I am just saying… Disney if you want some shirt designs made that will sell, holler at your boy, hahaha!
Here’s a little snippet from the “Coloring Book Project” which is a coloring book (duh) that features over 100 artists from all around the world and their line drawings for you or your young ones to color in! I’ve got like 6 pages in the book it’s pretty sweet! 215 pages of rad artwork and games and how-to pages and so on… pretty sweet! Get some HERE I think they’re $25 which isn’t too bad!
Here’s a picture of me modeling my sweet xLVACx shirt that I designed… This is one of like, 3 or 4 designs I did for the company. I think the other ones come out in a few months… Check out my boy Reject’s website and see what he’s working on! You can see what’s up by clicking HERE.
That’s about it for this post! The next post should ultimately be on the new website which will adapt to all mobile devices and have touch screen capabilities and the new shop should be OPEN!!!!!! Be sure to check back soon for all the exciting changes!
On the level,
Turk
