tattoo-ensday?? ah forget it…

haha, dammit as hard as i tried i didn’t get to update yesterday to keep with the “tattoosday” thing….

there’s just so much going on before i bail for Montreal that i couldn’t do it yesterday… i still have to pack my clothes and all my gear and try and finish a few paintings i started before i go… on top of all that i gues a water main broke in my neighborhood that flooded into the sewage lines which then caused the sewage to rush up and out of relief valves… and there just so happens to be one right outside my back bedroom door…. yeah…. awesome? not so much, haha. it even started rising out of my bathtub downstairs… pretty crappy… get it? crappy? hahaha man i am hilarious….

to top that off, my mom called while i was working and she never does that unless something is wrong… and indeed there was… a sad day for the family as my uncle Joseph had a brain hemorrhage on friday and was on life support only to pass on sunday… such a bummer too because my last interaction with him wasn’t the best and we weren’t really as close as we used to be when i was younger… but still… my heart goes out to his kids and his wife and thanks to everyone that sent condolences when i posted the RIP on facebook… it’s always hard to lose a family member… makes me even more sad to hear my mom’s voice in distress… that was her brother, man… sucks…

—————————————————-

so here are the tattoos i did during my crappy week of crappiness… good tattoos, for sure… and i did my best to stay in a good mood… but there was definitely a dark cloud over my head the whole time…

here we have a sweet little traditional-ish cabbage rose-esque tattoo i did on the lower front bicep just above the ditch… modeled after a rose i did a few years back that the client was stoked on, i drew him another to sort of match that old one but a little but elaborated on and darker blues and reversed the shading from the original… came out sweet. 2 and a half hours i think?

—————————————————-

here’s an owl i did on a wrist/forearm area… pretty damn sweet and all done in one shot! i think this one was about 2 and a half hours as well… had to reference a few owl tattoos and some actual owls to get this one the way i liked it… hard to make it not look like a bite either so it was a bit tricky. in the end i was really happy with it! can’t wait to see it healed…

—————————————————-

here’s a Misfits tattoo i fixed up for one of my existing clients… this tattoo was pretty old but pretty easy to fix… cleaned up the lines, added some spots, used white to lighten a few blowouts, the cloak was all messy so i cleaned that up too… all in all i think it went pretty well… didn’t remember to get a before pic so i guess you’ll have to use your imagination… maybe squint a little when you look at this one to blur it up a bit? hahaha…

—————————————————-

here is another big hand tattoo i did the other day… this took about 3 hours or more and by the end his hand was swollen like a boxing glove, haha… um.. i mean, that sucks… haha anyway, this piece was a ton of fun (for me) and i did all that i could to make it NOT look like the other one i did a few months back… the rose near the webbing of the thumb and forefinger is a coverup of a skull and crossbones… you can kinda see a little bit of it, but i tried to confuse and obfuscate as much as i could. if i hadn’t told you it was a cover, would you have noticed? honestly?

—————————————————-

here is the shading on that robot vs. octopus lower half sleever i started a few weeks back… this was roughly 4 hours of shading and a lot of fun! the ditch parts and the inner part of the arm were not so fun for the client but he toughed it out like a champ! adding all the textures on the head of the octopus and the spots on its tentacles is what took most of the time but it was time well spent! the color sessions start just a week after i get back so be sure to keep a lookout for that!

—————————————————-

that’s it for what i have so far before i leave for the Montreal show, Pennsylvania, and London… be sure to check in and see pictures from the road… tattoos from abroad… and hopefully no drunken ramblings and photos… hahah i’ll save that for twitter!

now i’m off to play a bit of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2…

until next time…

doesn’t have that same punch…

anyway, yeah it’s a few days late but here is another update for your viewing enjoyment! probably the last one before i leave for Montreal on the 5th… i head to Montreal and do a guest spot at Studio Tattoo Mania followed by the 8th Montreal Art and Tattoo Expo 2010! this is like my 6th or 7th time in Montreal and i am super stoked to be heading back! i always have an amazing time! this year my good buddy Adam Hathorn and i will be raging as Team Poutine-wolf once again! if you are out there, be sure to come say hello!! Here’s the flier for the expo painted by my buddy Pascal from Studio Tattoo Mania!

after that trip i head to Glenside, PA and work with my good friend, Scott Bramble at the fantastical Mercury Tattoo! we will be working together for a week before we leave for foggy london town! we are splitting a booth at the 6th annual International London Tattoo Convention hosted by TattooLife Magazine. this is like a who’s whos of tattoo artists that happens every year out in london… how i got invited, i have no idea! hahaha looks like some of my old Guru buddies will be there too so a good time is in store for sure! here’s one of the posters for this years show…

gonna be a blast! it’s a long time to be gone from home but man it is so much fun! stay tuned for updates from the road!

———————————-

here are some of the things i did last week…

here is a big ol’ battle axe i did on a dudes arm with crossed swords and roses and vines and all bells and whistles… oh and there’s a banner that reads “viven en cristo y mi corazon” which trnslates to “they live with jesus and in my heart”… we built this tattoo around a piece i did about 4 years ago… this is the only shot i got of it so be sure to stay tuned for more…

———————————-

this is a pocket watch and roses i did in a ditch a few days back… orange roses and gray/blue filigree… did a smaller tattoo similar a few weeks back but this one is way bigger and was started before that one… looking forward to adding another piece to this dudes arm and finishing it off! i did all of the pieces on his arm… you’ve probably seen all of them in various posts… better shots when it’s healed…

———————————-

got the inside of the arm knocked out for that zombie mary sleever i have been working on! colored the whole zombie (including his tattoo… the banner reads “brains”) and all the guts! we only got that far on the session as the inner arm is a crappy hurty spot and after three hours we threw in the towel… looks great though! one or two more and this beast will be done!!! stay tuned!

———————————-

shaded in the mermaid and lobster piece… pretty self explanatory but definitely good to see this piece coming along! one appointment a month slows things down sometimes and now with me being gone all of september it’s gonna be a while to finish it! but when i do, you know you’ll see it here! this one is going to be crazy colorful so be sure to keep your eye out for it…

———————————-

this picture is for all my friends on the east coast and pretty much anyone else that doesn’t live in california… 3×3 (that’s three patties) animal style with animal style fries! usually it comes with grilled onions but i don’t like onions… anyway… if you guys are seeing this NEEENER NEEEENER NEEEEEEEEEEEEENER!!!!

just remembered i still have one work week left before i leave so check back next week to see what i got going on… there’s a couple new pieces coming next week… forearm… bicep…. top of the hand…. gonna be sweet!

see you soon,

tattoosday!

tattoos… tuesday… tattoosday…? get it?

anyway, as promised, here is my weekly installment of pics from the past week…

if you follow me on twitter, then you saw the drawing of this piece already when i posted it a while back. obviously, this is the tattoo of that drawing. a spider mum on the back of the forearm that goes behind the samurai fighting a snake (a few posts down). we are gonna shade the snake and add a few splashes of color here and there and it will be done…

this is a sweet little pocket watch i had to freehand to fit in a weird gap between existing tattoos… right on the outside part of an elbow just to the side of the ditch… i tried to do the roman numerals in a graywash where the glare is… just as an added effect. we have a lot more to do on this guy… kneecap tattoo comin up! hahaha that should be a blast! well, for me anyway…

this is a silhouette inserted into a frame that’s part of a huge backpiece i am working on… i would show you more, but we are one session away from being done with the whole thing, so i think you should just wait and see it all when it’s done… be patient!

this is another one i shared on my twitter… a robot fighting an octopus!! this is a lower half sleever that has to connect to an upper half sleeve that he already has… the upper piece is a robot storming through a city and there’s fire and boom clouds and all that. i didn’t do it though… not always the easiest connecting to another piece but i think this one will fit perfectly! i didn’t get a chance to do the thick lines or all my crackhead little lines but that will be next session and shading as well… stay tuned for that!!! i am really excited about this one!

mmmmmm….. 2/3 pound turkey burger with pepperjack cheese, lettuce, tomato, cole slaw, applewood smoked bacon, fried egg, seared pineapple, mayo, and on an english muffin!!! holy shit it was amazing! talk about a food coma after… wow… so good…

alright guys, that’s it for now… if you don’t follow me on twitter, you can CLICK HERE or the little twitter button off to the left under the galleries links… if you follow me, you can see what i’m working on, when i’m working on it and before it gets posted here! sometimes even funny shit i see that i don’t post here… anyway, check it out if you get a chance.

off to the grocery store…

finally!

so here’s a mess of crap from the past month… been moving to my new place so i have been lagging big time. i would apologize for the lag, but then my friend Joel would yell at me… so no apologies! here’s what we got!

here’s a sweet and creepy doll i found at a local antique store… something about the eyes… i just had to have it…

here we have a pretty big day of the dead rib piece featuring a bride and groom surrounded by a rosary and some actual roses. there is a sacred heart behind them, but not very big and tucked into the corner a bit. we just started the color last week but i didn’t get a shot because it was just the stuff around the centerpiece and not as exciting as the actual centerpiece… it will be finished soon.

this is a mermaid holding a lobster i lined out a while back… i had to cram it between a pretty big existing piece on the back of her arm so it is an odd shape in the picture but makes sense on the arm… i think we’ll be shading it soon? i can’t remember. this one is gonna be great when its finished!

this is a tattoo i did that was a reproduction of another guys art… comic book art at that! normally i don’t take on pieces of others peoples art but this one is pretty sweet and i thought it would be a fun one, and it was!! the comic its from is called “The Walking Dead” and the artist is Charlie Adlard… fantastic stuff done only in black and white. this piece was harder than i thought but definitely a lot of fun!

got some color started on the mummy pin up piece, finally! and we added the columns behind her on the last appointment… not sure if i posted that before… either way, this is the color started and the next session we will color the rest i believe… i can’t wait to color the scarab beetles!

a color dog portrait with his dog “sniffles” as a vampire bat! the color in this pic isn’t the greatest, but it looks rad in person! i will try and get some healed shots so you can see it better.

the samurai fighting a snake. this one is still in progress (obviously) and next week we are adding a spider mum to the back of the forearm… hopefully we can add the mum and shade the snake all in one shot because i think this guy is moving away to hawaii for a while, the lucky bastard!

this was one of the hardest pieces i had to do this year, hahaha!! a haunted house with a ghost raven (it’s lined in blue tones you can’t really tell in the pic) perched on a fence that will probably be negative space… all these damn lines! it took a whole session to get this one lined in and we left out the moon and the weather-vane for now… i am excited to finish this one! now that the hard part is done of course, haha…

some lettering i did on a forearm that reads “Daylin”… it is her daughters name.

this was a rad little forearm jammer i did of a heart locket with crossed keys, roses, and vines throughout… we’ll be adding more stuff after we get the color done on this one… hopefully we’ll be ending up with a full sleeve of rad pieces like this one…

so this is the upper half of a full leg sleeve i am working on… black and gray all the way… the upper half is an angel cutting the throat of a demon and the background will be clouds and other angels descending with their swords drawn… STAY TUNED for the lower half!!! it will be a demon opening up the ribcage of an angel and a few other awesome things… guess you’ll have to wait and see!

this is a rad forearm piece i did on my buddy… it’s a giant squid attacking a ship in stormy weather… the banners read “hold fast” and there is a hidden joke in there that the collector and i thought would be hilarious! not sure you can find it in these pics, but if you see me in person, ask me, and i’ll explain it to you! glad this one is done! looking forward to adding more!

this is a huge piece i started a few weeks back on another buddy of mine… its just the linework this time and i thimnk we’re gonna try and knock out the shading before i leave for montreal and london… this piece was entirely conceptualized by me and has a pretty cool meaning behind it all… the woman, with her face and shoulder as a skeleton underneath the veil, is emblematic of mortality and no matter how we dress it up, underneath we are all dying. the bird, flies and sings as it pleases with no restrictions, but the woman holds it by its wings and binds its beak, its feet already bound, and is blindfolded. i tried to make this a symbol of how we become less and less free as time brings us closer to death… binding our feet that we might stay put. silencing ourselves from saying what’s truly on our minds. blinding ourselves from the world around us, focusing only on our own. most important, to me, is the wings… holding them down rather than clipping them or binding them is an emblem of how we could easily be free once again, but it is our own superfluities that keep us from again being free…

deep, right?

haha, i have been doing a lot of introspective shit lately, so you might see some more art that has a lot to do with deeper subject matter… don’t worry, there will still be skulls and such… just my macabre approach and more hidden meanings…

i almost forgot!!! go and get the new issue of International Tattoo Art Magazine the september issue! it’s got a nice 14 page spread on yours truly! a huge spread with a very well written article, this is a must have! i am seriously honored and happy as a clam to have a full spread! be sure to go and get your copy today!

stay tuned for updates every tuesday. that’s my new rule. it’s even in my calendar so i won’t forget!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

So here’s a tattoo I did on a hand yesterday… HUGE it covers parts of his fingers and goes between and it literally covers the ENTIRE hand! You can’t see the raven on the thumb area but when I post the good pics you’ll see the whole thing… This tattoo was the model I used for that painting I showed you a piece of a few posts back. I’ll be posting the painting soon too… Stay tuned for that!

Today is the 4th of July! So in true American fashion we’re grilling, drinking beers, and building guns! Don’t worry, no live ammo and no fully assembled arms. We’re just building my Stag lower with my Magpul parts and getting it ready for when I order my Yankee Hill upper… Anyway, just thought I would share it… Set up this sweet pic after the build…

Once again, happy birthday America! Hope you guys have a good and safe 4th!

geez-la-weez!! how long can i wait to do a post?? haha… sorry guys, been busy with art for art shows, a full work schedule, searching for a place to move to, studying, and i have been sick a few days lately which was putting off the new post even longer… so needless to say this post will be pretty long, haha… hopefully worth the wait… get ready for a bunch of stuff!!!

here’s a color snap from a zombie 7/8 sleever i have been working on… this is kind of an old picture seeing as how the top is almost all colored now… but this is the only one i could find at the moment, so this is all you get…

___________________________________________________________________

another outdated picture, hahaha… this is from a big day of the dead sleever i just finished up last week actually… didn’t take any pics because on my phone you just wouldn’t see the grandeur of the whole thing, ya know? plus i am waiting for my buddy scott to get back from Cananadadada so he can professionally shoot 3 finished sleeves and a soon to be finished backpiece… oh yes, they’re coming soon… this is one of them…

___________________________________________________________________

can’t remember if you saw this one already or not… huge rib piece of a conjoined fetal skeleton holding a stitched together heart with roses and calla lilies… i think she’s coming back soon so i can get a full healed shot… when i do it will be posted in the galleries…

___________________________________________________________________

here is a giant thigh piece i started a while back… this one is near completion. i think this is the most recent shot of it, actually…  we still have the rosary to color and her hair… then we are gonna frame it in with a bunch or roses, it’s gonna be killer… we finished up her shin piece as well… there will be pics of that in the galleries soon. you might remember, its the 2 pin ups in the graveyard… one’s a zombie and the other is a day of the dead girl? ah… you’ll see later…

___________________________________________________________________

here’s a drawing i did of a samurai fighting a giant snake… it’s for a half sleever i started a while back… not sure i have a shot of it because it was just the line work… the drawing came out good though! had to draw it a ton of times because the collector changed his ideas a few times during the art process… not my favorite scenario, but the piece came out great so the ends justify the means, you know?

___________________________________________________________________

here we have a skull wearing a spartan helmet and some blood! this was a cover up of a spartan shield that was super light, which made it really easy to cover… we’re gonna add a ton more spartan stuff to his whole arm so stay tuned for that!

___________________________________________________________________

yummmm!

___________________________________________________________________

got my axe head chromed… now i have an axe just like dude from American Psycho! admit it, you’re jealous….

___________________________________________________________________

here’s a huge forearm piece i started on my friend… giant squid attacking an “old old wooden ship” with the banner reading “hold fast”… just the line work this time around… shading to follow in just a few weeks… can’t wait for this one! gonna be epic!

___________________________________________________________________

close up of a black and gray piece i did… the other pictures came out shitty so this is the only one you get for now…

___________________________________________________________________

a sketch i did for an upcoming sleever project… took a few hours… mainly because i was trying to figure out flow… either way, the drawing came out cool… wait till you see it when i start it as a sleeve!

___________________________________________________________________

i knew it!!

___________________________________________________________________

here’s a sweet owl tattoo i started a while back and just recently colored part of… on the branch above this owl is another perched owl with a rat in its mouth… but it’s not colored yet… we’re also gonna add some background and color some surrounding stuff and blah blah… you’ll see more in a few weeks when i finish it!

___________________________________________________________________

here’s a big shaded upper section of a full sleeve i started a month or two back… there’s a pic somewhere down the blog of the lower half… it’s a sleever of snakes, skulls, and california poppy flowers… still in the shading phase… two more before color starts… this was only the 3rd session and it was only 2 hours… pretty awesome!

___________________________________________________________________

here’s a rad upper back piece i just finished up… the lights washed the pic out pretty good but again, these are just for the blog so i use my phone… this was two sessions. one was lining and shading, and this one was all color… hibiscus flowers, plumeria, calla lilies, and scottish heather… came out great and she sat like a champ!!! better pics will be taken when it’s all fully healed (which should be soon) and it will be in the galleries soon!

___________________________________________________________________

got tattooed again by my good buddy Adam Hathorn over at my old alma matter, Guru Tattoo! it’s a fist clenching a reclaimed soviet AK-47 with a crossed out “CCCP” and a banner that reads “WOLVERINES” in honor of Red Dawn (the original of course)… if you have not seen Red Dawn, and are around my age… you simply are NOT a man… hahaha. you need to see that flick! it was actually the first movie i ever saw in a movie theater as a kid… i saw it with my brother and the movie reels messed up right when the russians were parachuting into the school… we had to wait like 20 minutes before we could go back in… crazy i remember that! anyway, if you are in the SD area, you should definitely go by Guru Tattoo and see the shop and the amazing line-up of artists including the amazing Adam Hathorn

___________________________________________________________________

sketch for a tattoo i just did a few days ago….. pics to come later… the ones i took miraculously deleted themselves…. but the drawing is sweet… i think, anyway…

___________________________________________________________________

here’s a color portrait-esque piece i did on my friend… it’s a memorial for his dog Indy that passed away recently… there are crossed syringes (indy had the diabetus) and a chew ball with bat wings below it, and a banner with “INDY” above it. as you can see i added a pink collar with spikes at his request… the lights washed out the printout, but the look pretty damn close if you ask me… definitely one of the hardest ones i’ve ever had to do… normally i do illustrative stuff… this was a lot of fun, though… stay tuned for the finished product…

___________________________________________________________________

oh shit! here are some pics i took of that full sleeve! of course the phone doesn’t do it justice but you can kind of see where i am going with this thing… i promise, when my buddy gets back we’re gonna take really good shots of all these finished sleeves and backs…

___________________________________________________________________

here’s a sweet pulp style tattoo i started about a month ago… this is the shading session… a dead scantily clad angel with a bloody handed suited silhouette in the doorway… this piece will be color, so stay tuned for that!

___________________________________________________________________

here is a sweet ditch tattoo i started a few days ago to bridge between the seance piece i posted a while back and a dagger and heart i did a while back but i don’t think i have pictures of… anyway, this is just line work… this took a while man… ditch tattoos are a bit delicate as it’s pretty easy to blow out a line… we’re hoping to have it shaded and colored in the next session… we’ll see…

___________________________________________________________________

here is a drawing i finished today for a piece i am gonna start friday… this in an entire leg from the knee down with the exception of a piece on the back of the calf that i will be tying into… gonna be a lot of line work to start and cross the shin and all that fun stuff… we’ll see how he takes it! hahahaha lot of fun to draw though… took a while to figure out the layout since he wanted 4 skulls specifically, roses, and a banner that reads “Angela”… took a while to get the right placement, but i think it came out great.

that’s it for this time, i promise i will post at LEAST once a week!

and if you haven’t already done so, go get the new DANZIG album “Deth Red Sabaoth”… easily his best album since the original line-up… anyone who knows me knows how much of a DANZIG fan i am, so i might be a bit biased, haha… seriously though, this album is damn good!

that’s all for now, i am tired… it’s nearly 3am…

i was gonna show you this big, “how to” step by step watercolor painting tutorial thing with a painting that i recently did for a book project…. BUT…. i realized that giving it away now would defeat the purpose of it going in the book! so i’m sorry… all you get is a teaser…

gonna have to use your imagination for the rest…. when the book is launched, be assured, you will be the first to know… i guess if you are a client of mine, you will see it framed up in the studio. if not, you’re just going to have to wait…

i’ll be uploading new pics to the tattoo galleries tonight… so keep an eye out for that!

tattoos from pennsylvania

here are some tattoos i did while i was out in PA… i was there to work the lehigh valley Skindustry Expo with the guys from Steel City Tattoo, Scott Bramble, and my old (brown) friend Little Chico… the convention was awesome, i did a lot of fun stuff and won an award for Best Tattoo of the Day on the last day (it’ll be posted below)… after the show i worked at Steel City with the John Bicknell and his crew which was awesome… had a few flakers no show on me but sei la vie…. here are the people that were kind enough to show up…

here is a sweet rose and butterfly i did on Kris Smith from Coastline Tattoo up in Cape Cod, MA… we did it in one shot and i think it took about 3 hours and some change… he sat like a fucking ROCK, i tell you… i have done a lot of ditches in my time, and this guy by and far sat the best… great artist too! you can go to his website HERE.

finished this piece that i started exactly two years at the same convention! it’s an awesome demon with a stone brimstone symbol and some flames… his hands are trying to grab it and there’s part of a wing there too but the angled pics i took came out super blurry so you’re gonna have to use your imagination…

here is a sweet keystone and crossbones i did with a laurel wreath and some bursts… this is on Josh, which is one of the guys that works at Steel City… did this one freehand and knocked it out in just a few hours… he sat well and we talked about art and what not.. he’s a pretty killer artist, too… definitely gonna keep my eye on this guy…

here’s the award winner… a vampire skull with a stake through its head and some blood and wings and what not… ON THE FOOT! yikes! man i don’t have my feet done but i hear it’s pretty gnarly… this guy sat really well though… wish i could say the same but i was HUNGOVER BAD!!!! i was sweating and feeling faint and crappy and i didn’t think i was gonna be able to finish it… but, i did… i was out all night the night before and got all hammered and shitty and showed up 2 hours late for the show… didn’t start until a few hours after that… and still knocked this out and won the award… i feel good about it but i also feel bad that i let myself get so drunk when i had work the next day… that won’t happen again (until montreal)…

finished the zombie rambo finally! this thing has only been unfinished for maybe a few months but it was all over the ugliest tattoos website and a bunch of tattoo blogs as a crappy tattoo and so on… i mean, come on… i have seen some pretty shitty tattoos in my day but a zombie rambo ain’t one of them! hahaha… at least call it crap when it’s finished! hahaha so uh… here it is… crap?

finished this sweet thigh jammer on Mr. Bicknell himself while i was out there… John is the owner of Steel City Tattoo in bethlehem, pa and i travel there from time to time for guest spots and general tomfoolery… he sat well for this until the last 40 minutes… they were spent by his crotch… needless to say he was not enjoying life… but, it’s done now and looks sweet! take a look at the Steel City website HERE.

here is a winged skellie hourglass with crossbones i did on an ankle… or above the ankle, rather… this was FUN! i love when i get to do one and done tattoos and this one was a lot of fun because it has all the elements of what i like in tattoos! skulls, wings, and lots of color!! did this on one of the Steel City guys as well… man i think i tattooed more tattooers than customers on this trip! hahaha…

and on a serious note… we payed tribute to our friend Joe Beers that passed away a little over a year ago…no, we didn’t drink these beers and put them on his grave, they were already there… he’s also buried with a bowling ball, a sword, cigarettes, booze… GG Allin would be jealous… we talked some shit, told some stories, took a pull of some of the worst gin i have ever had and said goodbye… Goodbye Joe…

an upside down shot glass at the bar with his photo… miss you dude…

here’s some stuff i should have shown you about a week ago…
Wednesday April 21st 2010, 12:05 pm

yep i am always lagging… haha… i had 2000 buttons to get bagged (more like my assistant bagged them, thanks rachael!), stickers to cut out (by hand because kinko’s stopped using their cutters to do it because they say it gums up the blades…), had shirts made, die cut stickers, did the layouts and printed out new pages for the porfolios and what not…. i have been a busy boy! i have a lot of conventions and guest spots coming up so my web updates have been lacking…

here’s a few shots from pieces you missed over the week, and a few that i drew since i have been here at steel city tattoo in PA…

here’s the finished product of a dragon half sleever i started a while back… pretty awesome to finally see it finished! the colors are a bit washed out from my lighting but when it’s fully healed i will get good clean pro shots done and post’em up here and in the galleries…

this is a rib piece i started a few years back and it looked cool black and gray but the client decided to add some red to the letters and roses in an effort to make it pop out a bit more… i think it was a great idea! it really compliments the subtle grays and a little use of color never hurts!

so this is a cross section from a  full back i am working on… you haven’t seen the whole thing yet… i did that on purpose… you like when i tease you like that don’t you?? i bet you do… perverts…

finished this one up the other day… did all the color. the blacks were already healed you know, so the pics always turn out crappy… like i said earlier, i’ll get shots when it’s healed and post them up so you can see it in all it’s glory… the quote that’s on there is from a tiger army song “like a candle, this gift, my life, it burns away”… you’ll see it all when i post better pics…

a sweet traditional hinge i did on a guys ditch… total fun and knocked out in an hour!

the shading on the day of the dead wedding couple… black dress and a ton of detail! fun fun fun!!! it is gonna be color so stay tuned for that… also we’re gonna frame it in with a bunch of roses and such… gonna be awesome!

another sweet day of the dead piece i started on the lower forearm to match into a day of the dead upper arm piece i did… gonna tie it in so that it looks like we did it all at once… should be pretty awesome! stay tuned for more on this one!

here’s a section of a full sleever i started a month back… it’s gonna be epic! this is one of the skulls…

this is a california poppy (hard to tell because it’s not colored yet) and is right next by the skull above… there is another element in the sleeve not pictured but i will show you that when we shade it… it would be a bit confusing since it’s just lines… you’ll see…

here’s where i am right now! Steel City Tattoo in Bethlehem, PA… i’ll be working here as a guest for a spell and working the Skindustry Expo in Lehigh Valley this weekend… if you are in PA, and reading this, and want tattooed… come see me or call the shop! i still have a few spots i can squeeze you into… if you aren’t familiar with Steel City, check their website out HERE

here’s a fun little rotted out zombie heart with a butcher knife through it that i should be doing while i’m out here… i like all the little maggots and what not…

here’s a sweet little bat winged vampire skull with a stake through it’s head i am gonna do at the convention… gonna be on a foot! we’ll knock it out all in one shot and hopefully get to show it off a bit…

here’s something i drew just for fun yesterday while i was bored… loosely based on drawings by Charles Dana Gibson who’s one of my favorite illustrators… i didn’t have any reference in front of me, i just drew it from memory of his work… i love his stuff… i have a few paintings started that are in homage to him, but in my creepy way… you’ll see those later…

and finally, here’s a pic of some of the swag i made for this convention… shirts with the PA keystone on it and some crossbones… die cut stickers… button packs… vinyl stickers… this shit takes time!! but they look awesome!

that’s all for now… stay tuned for pics of stuff i’m working on while i am here in PA!!
